Hi everyone!

My name is Ashley and I live in a small town in Ontario, Canada.  I have spent my life drooling over home magazines (House & Home, Style @ Home, Better Homes & Garden) dreaming of my perfect house.  After I got married to an absolutely amazing man in 2008 I started building my dream house binder.  I sectioned off the binder for each room of the house and began filling the sections with pages of gorgeous rooms that I hoped to one day call ours.  Every few weeks I would sit down with my wonderful husband (who would smile when I pulled out the binder because he knew what was coming!) to go through our dream house room by room to fantasize about us living in these wonderful rooms.

After saving our pennies, we were finally ready to start looking to buy a home in the spring of 2011.  This is where reality came crashing in.  My dreams of the magazine type beautiful home certainly translated into a home that was significantly over our budget.  The house we ended up purchasing wouldn’t have been featured in any of the magazines I had spent years drooling over.  It was built in the late 1950’s and that was the last time anything had been done to it.  When we went to view it, the previous homeowner didn’t even have the rooms and basement cleared so that you could walk around in them (re: hoarder).  It hadn’t been maintained inside or out and was in rough shape.  We saw the vision in our heads of what the house could be, so we took the plunge, put an offer in and the house was ours!

Join me as I document our progress – from large renovations to small DIY decorating projects and everything in between!
